Thanks for the thoughts on the lineup talk from last night. I read a few things that I would really like to touch on.
Cohen is exactly right when he says it's too early to talk lineups, but those types of questions are always present in the media and were brought up in previous posts. I thought it was an interesting cluster of ideas.
Second: Maurice Creek. In no way did I intentionally or unintentionally omit him. I believe that with the shooting abilities accompanied by the experience in Roth and Dumes, it would be tough for Creek to fit in instantly. One idea that really made me think when I read it is Watford at the four and Creek at the three-interesting.
Let's remember that these ideas were relative to the start of the season. Depth at other positions, like the four and five, is much shallower. That is not to say as the non-conference season progresses Creek could start to see significant time at the two or three, especially if one of those slots is lacking on the defensive end.
Let's talk about Crean's liking of the two forward lineup. Just as an example, take Capobianco and Pritchard at the four and five, respectively. That's a relatively small post presence for a power conference like the Big Ten. With the Big Ten excpected to be even better than last year, it's not irrational think of Crean pondering a bigger lineup. I think a large part of it will depend on Muniru's ability to adapt to the speed and pace of the college game.
Thanks again, have a safe weekend.
