Hi all,

IU got its second-straight win today, when it beat Chicago State, 11-4.

The game was called in the fifth due to constant rainfall. However, that didn't stop IU from making it a complete game. Here's what IU coach Tracy Smith said about his team's decision to play:

"The beautful days fall on the days that we're not playing," he said. "They were on a long bus ride, and felt like it was going to drizzle the whole game. We felt like we owed it to them to play, since they drove six hours to get here."

When Chicago State finally arrived, they were in for a game as junior Matt Bashore (1-3) had one of his best performances of the season.

Bashore had six strikeouts and held the Cougars scoreless, only allowing two hits on the day.His three-inning showing got him his first win of the season, which is key for IU if it plans to do anything in the postseason.

Bashore received a lot of help from his infield, which played errorless baseball in the downpour. He also had ample run support, chiefly from Evan Crawford (1-2, 1 run, 2 RBI, stolen base), Jake Dunning (2-2, 2runs, 2 RBI), Kipp Schutz (1-2, home run, run, RBI) and Tyler Rogers (2-3, home run, 2 RBI). Phegley also scored a run, and was 1-4 in the game.
