Excellent pitching from IU junior pitcher Matt Bashore led to a Hoosiers victory against Iowa 8-4 earlier this afternoon. The win swept the series against the Hawkeyes and bring IU's record to 16-17 (6-2 in the Big Ten), resulting in a tie for first-place in the conference.
Bashore pitched eight and one-third innings, giving up four runs and six hits while striking out 10 batters. Sophomore Kipp Schutz had a big day for the Hoosiers with two hits and two RBI on the afternoon. Senior outfielder Chris Hervey also added two hits and two runs to the Hoosiers' total.
Next up for IU coach Tracy Smith's team is Ball State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Muncie.
