Hi all,
As Greg already said, we will have a feature on IU coach Tracy Smith running in tomorrow's edition of the IDS. We will also have coverage of the Indiana State game on the following day.
IU (3-2) has been on the road for much of the still young baseball season. After competing in multiple tournaments, based solely in southern states, it will finally return to the heartland for a contest.
The Hoosiers will head out to Terre Haute tomorrow, sending junior catcher Josh Phegley home when they face Indiana State (8-1). The teams will take Sycamore Field at 3p.m., facing off in a game that seems destined to be a competitive one. The Sycamore will hit the field on the heels of a 4-0 showing at the Palm Beach Classic, where they beat Villanova and several other lower-tier teams. While the Hoosiers will enter the game after a 9-1 blow-out win against Cleveland State.
Freshman pitcher Drew Leininger, one of Smith's many California recruits, will get the start tomorrow -- the first of his career.
The Hoosiers are no doubt the higher touted team, but ISU already has nine games under its belt -- not to mention eight wins on the season. What do you guys expect from the game? And how do you Leininger will fair? Sound off!
