IU lost a tough one to Jacksonville State, which seemed eerily similar to past Hoosier loses. The Hoosiers posted 13 hits to Jacksonville State's 6, yet came up short in its 9-8 loss.
Many players performed valiantly in the defeat. None gave a better effort than pitcher Blake Monar in the first five innings of the contest. He posted a no-hitter for the first five, but allowed two hits, three walks and hit a batter before exiting in the sixth inning. Jake Dunning then relieved Monar, collecting the loss, after only allowing two hits in the final 2 1/3 innings of the game.
As was indicated above, the Hoosier offense did a great job once again. They were led by Alex Dickerson, Michael Early and Josh Phegley. Dickerson was 3-of-5 on the day, hitting his sixth home run of the season. Early also hit a home run and Phegley had three RBI.
IU has six more games to play during its spring trip -- next up is Northern Iowa.
