Hi all,

After four consecutive losses, IU was able to pull out a win in its final game at the Eagle Invitational.

Blake Monar (2-0) led the Hoosiers to a 8-3 win to end the weekend. The freshman pitched seven solid innings, producing six strikeouts and allowing only four hits and one earned run.

He was not the only one to perform well on the day, though. He had a great deal of run support, thanks largely to Jerrud Sabourin and Josh Phegley. Sabourin was 4-for-5 on the day, with one RBI, while Phegley notched his first home run of the season en route to a 1-for-3 performance and three RBI.

Despite the final win, IU coach Tracy Smith was not happy with the weekend - or the season - as a whole. In my interview with him, he called on the man above: "Thank God we have experienced pitching," he said, adding that the losses could have been worse.

He also criticized the way his team has played after they were named one of the better Big Ten programs.

"We have not handled being the one with a target on our backs," Smith said. "People aren't going to hand you wins because they read you were good or have All-Americans"
