Think a No. 16 has never beaten a No. 1? Think again.

In the 1998 Women's NCAA tournament No. 16 Harvard shocked No. 1 seed Stanford 71-67 in Palo Alto, Calif.

The following is an essay that appeared in the New York Times on Friday. It was written by a player from North Carolina that transferred to Harvard after seeing the game on TV and the life lessons she learned from Harvard coach Kathy Dalaney-Smith.
