Like so many games this season, the Hoosiers were in it at the end, but ultimately fell short.

Freshman guard Matt Roth's desperation 3-pointers in the closing seconds were no good, and the Hoosiers (6-22, 1-15) lost Saturday for the 18th time in 19 games. The loss also marks IU's seventh in a row.

A last second basket gave the Nittany Lions a 29-28 advantage at the half. The Hoosiers battled back in the second half to take the lead but faltered in the end, turning the ball over and not converting in big possessions.

Junior guard Devan Dumes and freshman guard Verdell Jones led the Hoosiers with 16 points each.

IU resumes action today in their final home game of the season (and Kyle Taber night?) The Hoosiers will host Michigan State and Tom Crean's friend Tom Izzo inside Assembly Hall at 7:00 p.m.
