The Indiana-Illinois rivalry was anything but that Saturday.

The Illini opened the game on a 21-2 run and didn't relax their stranglehold grip of the lead the rest of the way. Illinois led by 25 at the half and extended their lead in the second, easily brushing off the Hoosiers, 76-45.

IU (5-10, 0-3) was without the services of their leading scorer, Devan Dumes for a majority of the afternoon. The junior guard was benched at the beginning of the game for missing the team bus. When IU coach Tom Crean did put Dumes in the game it didn't last long. Within two minutes of being on the floor, Dumes went down with an ankle sprain and did not return.

Illinois scored 31 points off of IU's 19 turnovers and hit 13-of-25 three-point attempts. The Hoosier shot just 39.2 percent from the field on the day and failed to establish any offensive rhythm. Freshmen guards Nick Williams and Verdell Jones led the Hoosiers in scoring with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Hoosiers resume action Tuesday when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to face Ohio State.
