The IU women's basketball team will open up their season tonight against the Ball State Cardinals in the 1st round of the preseason WNIT. Game time is set for 7p.m. at Assembly Hall. Tickets are $6 for Adults and $4 for Youth.

Here is some info about the Cardinals:

Coach: Kelly Packard (1st year at Ball State, Anderson alum)

2007-2008 record: 15-15

Player to watch: Junior forward Danielle Gratton (#35): Coach Jack describes her as a great all-around player. In the Cardinals most recent game Gratton scored 22 points including 4-4 from 3-point range to lead her team to a 75-69 win over the Hoosier Lady Stars.

Interesting story: senior guard Kiley Jarrett (#12) played high school ball at Bloomington North High School with current Hoosiers Whitney Thomas and Lydia Serfling. The trio compiled a 74-10 overall record.

Last meeting: Hoosiers beat the Cardinals 76-71 in Muncie last year. Junior guard Jamie Braun lead the team with 24 points. IU holds the all-time series lead 26-3 and have won the last 18 meetings. Ball State's last victory came in 1978.

Game scenarios: If the Hoosiers win they play against the winner of the Xavier-Robert Morris game at 2p.m. Sunday in Assembly Hall. If they loose they host consolation games Nov. 21-22.
