Coach Tom Crean was at the press conference to welcome Fred Glass to IU.
Crean spoke with the media afterwards, I got in on it a little late but here is some of what he had to say:
On the importance of Glass being an 'Indiana Guy'
Crean: "I'm not an Indiana guy, but I feel pretty strong about Indiana and I have a pretty strong passion for Indiana. I think that is the most important thing, the fact that he's got two degrees, the fact that he comes from an Indiana family, that his wife is an Indiana grad, that he has a child that is an Indiana grad with a couple more down the road that could be, I think that's a positive."
"You learn that it's a special feelng here and you've got to have it one way or the other
"You've got to have a real passion for what's going on here, and he really seems to have that."
On Glass helping to unify IU
Crean: "He's talking about a team. It's not 'I'm gong to do this, I'm going to do that.' He's talking about a team."
"I'm looking forward to watching his ability to connect and get people together on things, because I think that seems to be one of the great strengths that he has"
