Hey folks,
Just thought I'd get on here for a second and dispel a couple of notions (particularly the one about Ryan and myself not writing anything this semester).
I talked to Matt Brady from media relations yesterday, and he had a couple of quick hits from practice so far. Phegley has two home runs (at least as of yesterday), and Jeff Caldwell has three. Eric Arnett, Matt Bashore and Blake Monar have all been predictably shut down for the fall, no need to stress their arms too much now.
I was told Arnett is 4-for-4 at the plate thus far.
Hoosiermama: Brady didn't know of any movement on the field or anything about the Rolen rumor. I haven't heard anything from my other sources, but I'll keep my ears open.
One last note -- Ryan and I will be managing a fall ball game against University Chancellor Ken Gros Louis and IU CFO Neil Theobald on Tuesday, Oct. 7, with stories and other such poppycock to come soon after.
So if you want a throwback to the days of Durocher and McGraw ... I probably wouldn't come to practice that day. But if you'd like to see two young, budding, hapless journalists fall flat on their managerial faces, by all means bring your pom poms. We'll need all the help we can get.
