On Tuesday, IU coach Bill Lynch announced junior Kellen Lewis will begin the season as the starter under center while junior defensive lineman Greg Middleton will sit the opening game for breaking team rules.

Lewis sat out spring practice and most of the summer for breaking team rules as well, but rejoined the team last month. He competed with sophomore Ben Chappell for the starting job over the past couple of weeks. Middleton led the nation in sacks (16) in 2007 and fortified a strong defensive pass rush.

With Lewis in and Middleton out for the opener against Western Kentucky on Saturday, how will the Hoosiers fare? Though he started last year, do you agree with Lewis being named the starter and does it send a positive message to the rest of the team? Does he deserve it over Chappell and how will Middleton's absence impact the Hoosiers in their first game.

As always, we appreciate your comments.
