After an impressive sophomore campaign at IU, it looks like people are beginning to take notice at Greg Middleton - otherwise known as the monster on the Hoosiers' defensive line.
Middleton was named to the Ted Hendricks award watch list, which is an award that goes out to the nation's top defensive end. The Hoosiers haven't even begun the season yet, and already Middleton has been named to five award watch lists. The awards Middleton is up for are:
- The Chuck Bednarik watch list - an award presented to the nation's defensive player of the year. Former Penn State linebacker Dan Connor won the award last year.
- The Bronco Nagurski watch list - an award presented to the nation's outstanding defensive player. Glenn Dorsey of the Kansas City Chiefs was the recipient in 2007.
- The Rotary Lombardi watch list - an award presented to the nation's top lineman or linebacker. Dorsey also took home the award last year.
- The Lott Trophy watch list - an award presented to the defensive IMPACT (integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community, tenacity) player of the year. The award recognizes the character in a defensive athlete and Dorsey won the award last year.
