Hey folks,

The Hoosiers had a rough beginning to their four-game series against Northwestern today, losing 8-3. Josh Phegley hit his 11th home run of the year.

Northwestern pitcher Eric Jokisch pitched a storng 7 1/3 innings for the Wildcats in the victory. Eric Arnett went eight innings, giving up all eight Northwestern runs.

The Hoosiers also stranded five runners in the eighth and ninth innings combined.

The loss leaves the Hoosiers a full three games behind Northwestern in the Big Ten standings - the Wildcats are one of the other five teams fighting with IU for the last two Big Ten Tournament spots - and the Hoosiers will most likely have to take the last three games of this series if they want to be in a good position to make the conference tournament headed into the Michigan State series next weekend.

Tomorrow, the two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. CDT. Live audio and gametracker are available on IUHoosiers.com. We will, as always, have an update for you here after the games are done.
