Oh Joe Pesci references...
Hey folks,
One sunrise after last night's victory over Fresno State - and fracas therein - the Hoosiers found themselves felled by another western-based team, the Utes of Utah. The 11-2 loss knocked the Hoosiers down to third in the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic, with a record of 2-2 (5-7 overall for the season).
Josh Phegley and Jarred Sabourin each had a pair of hits in the contest, but Brian Budrow's eight strong innings paced Utah to victory. Cooper Blanc exploded for the Utes (6-8) on offense - figuratively and literally - going 3-for-5 with two home runs.
Joey O'Gara picked up the loss for the Hoosiers, lasting five innings and surrendering 11 hits and eight runs, all earned.
Next up for the Hoosiers will be Portland, the final team IU will play in round-robin competition at the classic. The start is set for 10 a.m. local time, which translates to 1 p.m. Indiana time, if my math is correct. You can listen to it live on iuhoosiers.com by clicking here and following the links to the appropriate game.
We'll have a wrap for you of tomorrow's game in this space, and look for a summary of the Hoosiers' trip out west in next Monday's IDS.
