Hoosier fans,

Sophomore Matt Bashore was absolutely dominant today agaisnt Portland, as the Hoosiers won 7-0.

The lefty struckout a career high 12 batters (I did a double-take too) over 8.0 innings of shutout baseball, including striking out the first four Pilot hitters.

With a 6-0 IU lead in the seventh, the Pilots loaded the bases and threatened to make a comeback. But Bashore responded and surpressed any thoughts of a Pilot rally as he struck out the next three hitters, who happened to be the top three hitters in the Pilots' lineup.

The Hoosier offense wasn't too shabby either putting up seven runs, though one would have sufficed. Tyler Rogers and Jerrud Sabourin both had career-first home runs fueling the Hoosier attack. Sabourin would add another big-fly later in the contest.

IU (now 6-7) could potentially play in the Invite's championship match, but are garunteed a slot in the third place contest. Gonzaga would have to lose to New Mexico State for IU to play in the championship game, scheduled tomorrow at 9:05 p.m. Eastern. But, if the Zags do to the Aggies what IU did to the Aggies, then the Hoosiers will play at 5:00 p.m.

I'll update this post in the next few hours as that game finishes.
