Hey folks,

It's the afternoon before IU's game with Minnesota, but apparently there's still something to talk about from Friday night. An Associated Press brief ran concerning the matter, saying among other things:

A scoring error in Ohio State's game at Indiana on Monday night may have cost the Buckeyes a critical game in their quest for a fourth consecutive Big Ten title.

With 2:38 remaining in regulation and Ohio State leading 52-51, Indiana was awarded a point made from a disqualified free throw, and the point was never removed from Indiana's total.

The game went into overtime and Ohio State dropped into a tie for the Big Ten lead with a 69-61 loss. The Buckeyes and Hoosiers were tied at 54 through regulation.

Ohio State officials declined to comment.

As I remember it, Whitney Thomas was shooting the front end of a one-and-one. She made the bucket, but IU was called for a lane violation and the second shot was denied, though the first shot was counted good. I guess the rule says the made shot should not have counted, though there is a definite chance I'm reading this wrong, or I remember incorrectly.

We'll look into this in the next couple of days and see what we can find. I liked to the ESPN posting of the AP brief. What do you think? The game did end in overtime, and this happened in regulation? Would the outcome have been different?
