Hey folks,

Tonight seems like a good night to shirk the errands, as the end of the world is being forecasted by the good people who cover the weather in our fair state. So with that in mind, just pull up a chair, tune into the women's basketball team, and let Above the Rim's live blog of (the first) match-up between the Hoosiers and Wisconsin tonight.

This one should keep you warm for the men's game, as we have the conference's leading scorer, Jolene Anderson, leading a resurgent Badger squad into Assembly Hall on the heels of two conference wins by a combined 57 points. The Hoosiers will look to their balanced attack to slow Anderson and defeat the Badgers.

Well that's about it. We'll have starters and opening tip soon, so stay with us.

Starters

IU F - Whitney Thomas F - Amber Jackson G - Kim Roberson G - Jamie Braun G - Nikki Smith

Wisconsin F - Tara Steinbauer F - Danielle Ward G - Jolene Anderson G - Janice Banks G - Rae Lin D'Alie

Both teams are going with three guards to start, we'll see if that gives the Hoosiers any kind of match-up advantage, considering their ability to rebound from almost every position. It's tipoff time, so we're away.

19:28 IU 2 - Wisc. 0 IU wins the tip and uses an offensive rebound and a steal to get a score on their third shot of the game. D'Alie answers with a three, 3-2 Wisc.

15:44 IU 9 - Wisc. 4 Jamie Braun's 3-pointer stretched the IU lead to five before the first TV timeout. Play is rather frantic right now, and strangely, Wisconsin already has two turnovers where they've stepped on the inbounds line with the ball.

13:30 IU 16 - Wisc. 9 Janice Banks, a Ben Davis grad, hit a 3-pointer that was answered by another Indianapolis native, Kim Roberson. Roberson's step-back three drew applause from the crowd, aided by an increased student presence.

11:15 IU 19 - Wisc. 12 This game is being played rather frantically at the moment. It's physical, but IU has forced five Badger turnovers, part of the reason they're up by seven.

9:07 Wisc. 30 sec. TO IU 24 - Wisc. 14 A Haylie Linn three stretched the lead to 10 moments ago, IU's biggest of the game. Wisconsin just can't hold onto the ball, and Jolene Anderson took just one shot and scored no points before being subbed a minute ago.

6:57 IU 30 - Wisc. 18 Wisconsin is having an absolutely terrible time holding onto the ball. I know I keep hammering on it, but they've turned the ball over 12 times already, and Anderson still hasn't scored. Kim Roberson, second in the Big Ten in steals, already has four tonight. Haylie Linn hits a three out of the TV timeout, and Wisconsin answers with two free throws. 33-20 IU.

3:29 IU 33 - Wisc. 22 Jolene Anderson STILL hasn't scored, she's just 0-for-2 tonight.

1:00 IU 40 - Wisc. 25 More turnovers and a fourth Haylie Linn three have stretched the Hoosier lead, and they all but control the game right now. Wisconsin just looks lost. They've turned it over 15 times this half.

Halftime IU 42 - Wisc. 25 Wow. So much to say about this first half. Fifteen Badger turnovers is a good place to start, followed by Haylie Linn's four 3-pointers, Whitney Thomas' eight points, and Kim Roberson's 11 points, four steals and three rebounds. Perhaps the most startling statistic of the night: The Big Ten's leading scorer Jolene Anderson has NO points this half. Wisconsin cannot win without points from her.

In a non-sequiter, AD Rick Greenspan, Tracy Porter and members of the IU softball team have all been in attendance for parts or all of the game so far tonight, and women's golf coach Clint Wallman just sat down with our friend Jeremy Gray of the IU Radio Network. It appears to be a star-studded event here at the Hall tonight.

Check back for second-half updates as the Hoosiers go for Big Ten win No. 6 tonight against Wisconsin.
