Thankfully for the Hoosiers, former UNC-Wilmington guard Brett Blizzard has long graduated. In the 2002 NCAA tournament, Blizzard scored 29 points on all-Big Ten defender Dane Fife.
"Blizzard is unbelievable," former Indiana coach Mike Davis said after the Hoosiers' 76-67 victory. "Dane Fife is the defensive player of the year in the Big Ten, and [Blizzard] made unbelievable shots in his face."
After getting past Wilmington, IU defeated No. 1 Duke in the Sweet Sixteen, Kent State in the Elite 8 and Oklahoma in the Final 4 before falling to Maryland in the NCAA championship game.
