Before their practice on Tuesday the Hoosier seniors called a players only meeting.
Junior wide receiver James Hardy said he and senior captain Josiah Sears spoke to the team - While I can't report on what Sears said, Hardy gave me some insight as to what they talked about.
"The seniors called it and me and Josiah spoke in front of the team, we just got to get it back on track and get everybody to have fun," Hardy said. "We're in it together, we're like a family, we got to stick together because no-one really knows how hard we work and what we put into it unless they're here with us. We just got to reiterate that in their minds and make sure they come out to work hard this week."
Hardy also spoke candidly about the four losses the team has suffered so far this year.
"I think the Michigan State and the Wisconsin game that was just going to be difficult for us to win they were just more powerful at every position," Hardy said. "Penn State and Illinois it was just turnovers that helped them win the game."
INJURY UPDATES:
Coach Lynch said he expects wide receiver Ray Fisher to play this week after missing the Wisconsin game. Fisher practiced Tuesday. Lynch continued to be aloof about the status of running back Demetrius McCray, only saying that he was getting closer to being able to play.
As for the dinged up offensive line, Lynch had this to say in his weekly teleconference.
"I'll know more as we go through the next couple of days. Matt Moses will not play, probably for sure. Ben Wyss has a chance - he is a tough guy, and I would say he'll practice very little, but he has got a chance. As we're starting here, Alex Perry will be going number one at center, and I thought he did an admirable job coming in under the circumstances because really he always snaps and does those kind of things in practice, but until last week he never really lined up as a center in a team situation - he was always playing tackle. I think Pete Saxson will make it back. Pete's shoulder is one of those that he has had problems with that some guys can bounce back quicker than others and it's probably something that will have to be taken care of when the year is over. It wasn't the first time for him. Charlie Emerson, I think, will be much healthier. We really haven't had a chance to use Charlie much the last two weeks, so I think we feel good about that. When it is all said and done, I think other than the center position we'll have our guys out there. Some of them will be a little bit limited this week in reps in practice."
