Gearing up for the Big 10 season, IU's last two practices have been, in a word, intense. Yesterday after practice the team did wind sprints, and today things were noticable chippy. The 1st team defense had to do up/downs if they missed tackles. It was the most intense practice that I've seen so far this year.
Coach Lynch on the difference between conference and non conference play: "I think the speed of the game will change from what we've done, anytime you get into conference I think the level of play changes." He went onto add, "Conference play is just different, the speed of the game is different and intensity of it is different but we got a lot of players that have played Big 10 football games so I think they understand that."
On a funnier note, Teddy Schell has the task of impersonating Juice Williams for the 1st string defense. Schell's passes really have steadily improved throughout the year, but it doesn't look like he'll ever be mistaken for a dual-threat quarterback like Williams or Kellen Lewis.
On a really strange/random note: Athletic Director Rick Greenspan was at practice today and during interviews to Will Patterson and Lewis it apeared as if he walked past them and rubbed their ears. I can't really confirm this, I was a little too creeped out to stare at what was happening...My partner in crime Lee Hurwitz was the one interviewing Lewis so maybe he can verify what I saw, but whatever he was doing it was a little awkward.
