Some quicky stats on the Fighting Illini so far:
* U of I is 2-1. Dropping its opener to Missouri before beating Western Illinois at home and Syracuse on the road. (Their two wins both with relative ease)
* These boys like to run. Junior running back Rashard Mendenhall is averaging 6.4 yards per carry and has six touchdowns for far. Three of them came last week against Syracuse. Freshman running back Troy Pollard hasn't gotten as many carries, but is averaging 6.9 yards per carry and overall the Illini have 10 rushing touchdowns so far this year.
* Two of those rushing touchdowns came from sophomore quarterback Juice Williams, token fan favorite of the Orange Krush (if they exist for their football team.)
* They're averaging 32 points a game and giving up an average of 20. Going a long way in that defensive average is their shut out of Western Illinois.
