CV Hops LLC hops are now available for purchase.

Local Bloomington startup CV Hops LLC has partnered with Sandy Ridge Farms for distribution, Hanley Hops LLC as the first commercial grower, and Michigan State University studying the viral and fungal resistance of the patented CV-12 hop variety.

Hanley Hops LLC is an Indianapolis based, family owned and operated agricultural company that grows, harvests, and processes hop cones. Their primary goal is to provide high quality hops, grown in Central Indiana, to make Indiana craft beverages as great and local as they can be.

Sandy Ridge Farms, Inc., lists CV-12 as an aromatic finishing hop bred for its unique and highly desirable flavor characteristics. CV-12 was domesticated from CVCTM, a native hop originating from the Midwest and owned by CV Hops LLC. It produces large, loose cones, has a very high growth rate, and a unique citrus, spicy, piney character. (Because the hop is patented, it requires a signed Material Transfer Agreement for ordering).

Dr. Rob Sirrine, Michigan State University Extension, facilitated the inclusion of CV-12 into a genetics study led by Dr. Tim Miles. The Miles Lab at Michigan State University is studying the genetics and fungal resistances of the CV-12 variety. The MSU Small Fruit & Hop Pathology Program strives to understand plant pathogens and to develop improved disease management for these exciting and novel crops.

About CV Hops LLC

CV Hops LLC was founded by Travis Wade and Mike Baker in 2019 to develop and patent a variety of hops uniquely adapted to drought and high temperatures. This company has developed a hop that does not suffer from the effects of abnormally low rainfall and record heat waves. The CV-12 Hop is naturally resistant to these effects of climate change.
