With performances from Y La Bamba and Tune-Yards, Switchyard Park will debut the first installment of its Thursday Night Summer Music Series at 6:30 p.m. June 20.

In collaboration with Visit Bloomington, Switchyard Park will host concerts featuring world-class touring artists on the park’s main stage. The outdoor, evening concerts are free for all to attend. In addition to the live music, a variety of food trucks and adult beverage vendors will be on site for concertgoers to purchase refreshments.

Y La Bamba, an eclectic indie folk pop band, will be the first to perform. The Portland-based ensemble is led by Luz Elena Mendoza and is known for songs like “Ojos Del Sol” and “Hues” featuring Devendra Banhart.

Y La Bamba’s performance will be followed by Tune-Yards at approximately 8 p.m. The Oakland, California-based pop band known for songs including “Water Fountain” and “Powa” boasts more than 225,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

According to the Visit Bloomington website, Tune-Yards will be playing music both new and old, including tracks from their album “Nikki Nack” in honor of its 10-year anniversary.

The second installment of the Thursday Night Summer Music Series on July 18 will begin with TORRES. The indie rock artist known for songs like “Three Futures” and “Sprinter” will take the stage at 6:30 p.m., followed by Lindsay Lou, a bluegrass artist who was named one of NPR’s 12 Best Performances in 2015. Her latest album, “Queen of Time,” features collaborations with Grammy award-winning musicians Jerry Douglas and Billy Strings.

Parking is free, and guests may bring blankets, lawn chairs and personal coolers with non-alcoholic beverages for their enjoyment during the shows.
