Indiana football sophomore running back and return specialist Jaylin Lucas announced he entered the transfer portal on X, formerly known as Twitter, Tuesday.

Lucas entered the 2023 season as the starting running back but found himself further down the depth chart as redshirt sophomore Trent Howland emerged throughout the season. Lucas totaled 275 rushing yards and two touchdowns alongside 34 receptions for 247 yards and two touchdowns.

Lucas burst onto the scene during his freshman season in 2022 with a pair of kick return touchdowns against Rutgers and Michigan State, the latter guiding the Hoosiers to their fourth victory of the season.

In 2023, Lucas returned a kickoff for a touchdown against Purdue — his only return touchdown of the season.

While Lucas didn’t return any punts during his freshman campaign, he fielded nine punts in 2023 for 14 yards.

By Lucas entering his name, there are now 25 Hoosiers in the portal. The full list of those who are in the portal can be found here.
