45-year-old woman shot in car Thursday night

A 45-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital after being shot in her car multiple times, according to a release from the Bloomington Police Department.  

Police responded around 10:20 p.m. Thursday to multiple 911 calls of shots fired on the 1200 block of North Maple Street, according to the release. The investigation is ongoing. 

While the woman was pulling out of a driveway when a vehicle stopped behind her, she told police. An unknown person wearing a face covering exited the car and fired multiple shots into the woman's vehicle, according to the release. The suspect then sped off in the car in an unknown direction.  

The woman had multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release. BPD officers provided initial medical care before an ambulance arrived.  

The woman’s vehicle had a shattered rear windshield and multiple bullet holes, according to the BPD crime log. Officers collected multiple firearm shell casings.  

It is not clear if there are any arrests or suspects in the shooting. BPD was not able to provide more details.
