Bloomington man preliminarily charged with vandalism of Washington Monument in D.C.

A 44-year-old man from Bloomington was preliminarily charged with trespassing, vandalism and tampering after he was caught vandalizing the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.

The man, Shaun Deaton, may face additional charges, according to the U.S. Park Police.  

Deaton used red paint to write “Have u been fucked by this” and “Gov says tough shit." He also splashed the paint on the base of the monument.  

The clean-up process has already begun but may take weeks, according to WTHR.
