Indiana football’s 2021 running backs coach Deland McCullough will become the next running backs coach at the University of Notre Dame, according to a tweet from Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.

McCullough, who coached at Indiana in the same capacity from 2011-16, was re-hired during the 2021 offseason from the Kansas City Chiefs to replace the outgoing Mike Hart, who had been hired by his alma mater at Michigan.

Indiana’s running backs rushed for 1,700 total yards in 2021, with 600 of those coming from Stephen Carr, who transferred to Indiana from the University of Southern California in May 2021. Carr had been coached by McCullough at USC in 2017.

McCullough’s son, incoming freshman linebacker Dasan McCullough, is Indiana’s highest-rated recruit in the history of the 247 Sports recruiting rankings.
