Indiana women’s golf freshman Aine Donegan was named Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. She shares the award with Nebraska sophomore Michaela Vavrova.

Donegan captures the award following her first collegiate victory at the Courtney Cole Invitational in Bloomington with an even-par score of 144 over 36 holes. The result helped Indiana win its first tournament of this season.

Donegan was one of the Big Ten Preseason honorees announced Aug. 31. She is the first Hoosier to claim Big Ten Player of the Week since Priscilla Schmid in Oct. 2019, who accomplished the feat twice in the 2019-2020 season.

This is the first accolade for Donegan, from Ennis, Ireland. Her season average score of 72.63 is on pace to beat the Indiana single season record of 73.31, set by current teammate senior Mary Parsons in 2017-2018, her then-freshman season.

Indiana and Donegan will have one final event in the fall season for 2021 at the Illini Invitational in Medinah, Illinois, on Oct. 11-12.
