IU softball and the Big Ten released their schedules Monday. The team will compete in a 44-game, conference-only schedule that includes 16 home games at Andy Mohr Field and no tournaments. IU is scheduled to face all 13 of its Big Ten counterparts for the first time this season.
The Hoosiers will start in Leesburg, Florida, where they open the season with a double-header against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Feb. 26. IU will then continue a stretch of 10 more games against Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern and Rutgers in the Sunshine State.
The team comes back to Bloomington on March 26 to play the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines in a four-game set.
Other home games will all be four-game series against Ohio State on April 16 and 17, Michigan State on April 30 and May 1 and Penn State from May 7-9. The regular season concludes May 16 in College Park, Maryland, against the Terrapins.
“This is a unique opportunity to play every Big Ten opponent this season,” head coach Shonda Stanton said in a press release. “My staff is grateful to be at Indiana with the leadership of Scott Dolson; we appreciate the tireless efforts of his staff and the medical team. Above all else, my coaches and I are super proud of our student-athletes and cannot wait to take the field with Team 48.”
Selections for the Women’s College World Series will be made Sunday, May 16. Regionals will run from May 21-23. Super Regionals are May 27-30. The Women's College World Series will be in Oklahoma City from June 3-9.
