INSTANT RECAP: IU men's basketball nightmares at the Kohl Center continue in 84-64 loss

Welcome to the live update's page for Saturday afternoon's IU men's basketball game agianst Wisconsin. The game marks both the Big Ten opener for the Hoosiers as well as their first road game. IU hasn't won at Wisconsin since 1998.

IU will more than likely be without sophomore guard Rob Phinisee once again, but it didn't need him in the team's 80-64 win over Florida State Univeristy. The Hoosiers' are 8-0 and a win against the Badgers would match their best start since the 2012-13 season, where they started 9-0. Follow along below for updates.

FINAL: IU plays its worst game of the season, by far. Wisconsin wins 84-64. It still hasn't won at the Kohl Center since 1998. It felt as if Wisconsin could have won by so much more. IU falls from the ranks of the unbeaten and drops to 8-1 (0-1). It was terrible on both ends. It was out-rebounded. It tied its lowest scoring total of the season. It's about as far of a step back as IU could have possibly taken after beating Florida State on Tuesday.

Under-4 timeout: IU's shooting percetnage just cracked 40% for the first time since the early minutes of the game. Everything where IU normally excells, especially free throws and rebonding, have not been there at all. IU trails 76-57.

Under-8 timeout: IU just played easily its best stretch of the game, and it only cuts the deficit to 20 points. Al Durham and Devonte Green each have 10 points, which are IU's only players to score double digit points. Every IU player but Jerome Hunter has a negative +/- rating.

Under-12 timeout: It's just a matter of time at this point. IU was never in this game, and now it is down 65-35. Awful on both ends. Obviously, IU's worst game of the season.

Under-16 timeout: IU hasn't made any adjustments out of the break. There is no energy on either end of the floor. IU is down 59-31. Wisconsin has now scorced more points in this game barely into the second half than it had total in its last three game. This has been a lifeless performance from IU.

Halftime: IU just played its worst first half of the season. Without question. Wisconsin hadn't scored more than 54 points in each of its last three games, against teams not of IU's caliber. IU just allowed it to score 47. All the while IU couldn't score itself. It trails by 20, 47-27, at the Kohl Center.

Under-4 timeout: Damezi Anderson showed some flashes in his expanded role, and has been one of IU's better players so far. But the issues that have fell upon the Hoosiers throughout the first half on both ends continue to be an issue. 35-22 hole for IU.

Under-8 timeout: IU is making no dent into this deficit. Rebounding has been inconsistent, so has defense. The offense has looked uncomfortable, struggling to deal with contact its getting inside. Its getting to free throw line at a slower rate than it wants. It looked like a mess for stretches as it trails 28-14.

Under-12 timeout: IU is allowing Wisconsin to shoot nearly 20% better than its season average as it falls behind 20-9. The segment between the under-16 and under-12 timeout was much better than the opening minutes, but still a struggle for IU against a good defensive team in Wisconsin. IU is shooting 25% from the field. But against a Wisconsin team that struggles to score, IU's own defense can't get stops.

Under-16 timeout: Horrid start for IU. After scoring the first points of the game, Wisconsin went on a 15-2 run after that to take a 15-4 lead into the timeout. A team that struggled to shoot threes and score as a whole was having no problems against IU, as well as leading the rebounding battle.

Pregame: IU is keeping the same starting lineup it has used tnhroughout the first eight games of the season. Senior guard Devonte Green will come off the bench even after his 30 point game against Florida State.

Pregame: Rob Phinisee sat on the bench in street clothes with a boot on his foot during warm ups. As expected, he will not play.
