Dear Editorial Board,
After reading the "Planned Parenthood needs federal support" opinion piece on April 9th, I felt the strong urge to speak up about my own thoughts and feelings surrounding Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood is one of the greatest organizations that provides excellent care to women. People often view Planned Parenthood to be a place where they only give abortions and do not educate woman.
I have gone to Planned Parenthood for years to get birth control, and there have been times where there have been protestors outside yelling at me to not support them.
If you research Planned Parenthood you will see that only a small percentage of their work is actually doing abortions, only 3 percent, to be exact.
People should have their own choice with their body and what happens to it. Abortion clinics need to be supported because if not, people will still find ways to get an abortion and often times it will not be very safe.
Planned Parenthood offers so many more services than abortions and this needs to be recognized. I stand with Planned Parenthood and you should too.
