BEDFORD — State officers arrested a wanted fugitive Aug. 16 for dealing and possession of methamphetamine, according to the Indiana State Police Department.
Indiana State Police Bloomington Troopers and the U.S. Marshal’s task force responded to a residence after obtaining a search warrant. On the police’s arrival, two men standing in front of the residence ran.
Officers apprehended one of the men, but the second man tried to escape by going into Salt Creek, which runs directly behind the residence. The man eventually swam to shore where he was taken into custody by officers on the other side of the creek, according to the release.
The first man arrested, Bradley Crawford, 46, was found in possession of drug paraphernalia, a meth pipe.
The second man gave a fake name to officers at first, which was the name of his brother. He was identified as James Deckard, 29. He was also wanted on a Monroe County Warrant for a probation violation.
Both men are currently incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail.
