IUSA still reviewing results

The IU Student Association election commission is still reviewing preliminary election results.

After elections April 6 and 7, the commission has been reviewing 11 complaints and deciding how to issue
infractions.

There are two complaints against Accelerate IUSA, six against REAL for IUSA and three against RISE for IUSA.

The commission’s head of marketing, Savannah Wormley, said the commission cannot commit to a set timeline because of the lengthy process complaints require.

Once all infractions are decided, tickets have 24 hours to submit an appeal. The appeal is then sent to the IUSA Supreme Court.

This process could last throughout the next week or even longer.

Going over all complaints is time consuming, but it’s important the commission thoroughly goes over all of the evidence they have, Wormley said.

“We are working to make sure we have a fair and representative election,” Wormley said.

The commission issued an official statement saying the commission holds itself to the highest standard when deliberating potential violations of the code.

“We regret the delay in finalizing voting results of the election but remind all those involved that we work through the most just process possible, consulting advisors, the code and precedent in order to issue proper infractions,” the statement said. “We are still in the review process and will issue our final results to the supreme court for official certification, as soon as they are determined.”

All complaints and the official statement can be found online at iusaelectioncommission.com.
