From suspicious mail openers to a failed robbery, a few odd and unexpected crimes were reported to the Bloomington Police Department this week. All of the following accounts were collected from BPD:
To rob or not to rob:
A man walked into the Regions Bank Whitehall branch at 9 a.m. Monday with a black hood over his face. When a clerk asked him to remove his hood, he refused, and said he was there to rob the bank.
He then changed his mind, the teller told police. The man walked out, making no threats, taking no money and showing no weapons.
Signed, unsealed, redelivered:
A man reported three suspicious juveniles opening his mail on Monday. The youths fled before law enforcement arrived but the officer returned the mail to the owner.
Cat burglary:
On Wednesday a man reported his residence was broken into. Stolen items included a laptop and his cat.
