After one half of play in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes are leading the Hoosiers 38-21.
The two teams combined for 35 points within a 3:38 span in the first quarter, 28 of those coming on four consecutive offensive plays.
Iowa started the scoring with a 12-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Rudock to Jake Duzey.
On the next IU offensive possession, Desmond King picked off IU quarterback Nate Sudfeld on the IU 35-yard line and made it 13-0 Iowa.
Then, with under two minutes left in the first quarter, receiver Damond Powell caught a 72-yard pass from Rudock.
IU responded with a 83-yard run by Tevin Coleman for a touchdown. That was the longest run of his career and extended his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown to 15.
Coleman has 144 yards on nine carries in the first half. He has now rushed for 100 yards in eight-straight games, the nation’s longest streak.
With IU trailing 28-7, Nick Stoner caught a pass from Sudfeld for his first touchdown since last season’s Indiana State game.
Stoner, Shane Wynn, J-Shun Harris and Coleman each have one catch.
Sudfeld walked to the locker room in the second quarter. After being injured on a sack, he walked off the field holding his left arm.
Iowa completed the first half scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-goal by Mark Weisman.
Rudock is 14-of-18 passing for 179 yards and two touchdowns, while Sudfeld is just 4-of-9 for 85 yards passing.
