Iowa football leads IU 38-21 at the half

After one half of play in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes are leading the Hoosiers 38-21.

The two teams combined for 35 points within a 3:38 span in the first quarter, 28 of those coming on four consecutive offensive plays.

Iowa started the scoring with a 12-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Rudock to Jake Duzey.

On the next IU offensive possession, Desmond King picked off IU quarterback Nate Sudfeld on the IU 35-yard line and made it 13-0 Iowa.

Then, with under two minutes left in the first quarter, receiver Damond Powell caught a 72-yard pass from Rudock.

IU responded with a 83-yard run by Tevin Coleman for a touchdown. That was the longest run of his career and extended his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown to 15.

Coleman has 144 yards on nine carries in the first half. He has now rushed for 100 yards in eight-straight games, the nation’s longest streak.

With IU trailing 28-7, Nick Stoner caught a pass from Sudfeld for his first touchdown since last season’s Indiana State game.

Stoner, Shane Wynn, J-Shun Harris and Coleman each have one catch.

Sudfeld walked to the locker room in the second quarter. After being injured on a sack, he walked off the field holding his left arm.

Iowa completed the first half scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-goal by Mark Weisman.

Rudock is 14-of-18 passing for 179 yards and two touchdowns, while Sudfeld is just 4-of-9 for 85 yards passing.
