Three suspects arrested for robbery spree

Police arrested three suspects believed to be involved in a string of robberies that occurred in the last few months Thursday.

Tavaris Jackson, Jahhim Easter and a third male, a juvenile, were all arrested and face charges of robbery with a deadly weapon and assault with bodily harm, both class B felonies.

The latest robbery occurred at 2036 North Walnut Street June 19. Two apartment residents, a male and a female, had recently returned to the address when they heard a knock on the door. When the male resident opened the door, the three suspects burst in and robbed them, according to police.

Two of the suspects were carrying handguns and the other had a baton. The female victim was held at gunpoint and had no injuries, but one suspect hit the male victim with the baton on the back of the head and caused him to bleed. The victim also had abrasions on his neck and knees.

The suspects took two mobile phones from the residence. They also attempted to take a large television, but left it there. The suspects took the female resident’s credit card and used it at the 7-11 convenience store on West 11th Street.

Detectives used video surveillance footage from the 7-11 to locate Jackson and the younger suspect. The victims also reported a suspicious red car near the residence June 19. Detectives found a red 2005 Buick LaCrosse in which they located Easter.

Jackson and the juvenile admitted to their involvement in the robbery when detectives questioned them. They also admitted to having purchased marijuana from that apartment and said that was the reason they targeted it for a robbery.

Police believe the suspects were involved in at least two other robberies, one of which occurred at the same apartment on either March 8 or 9. Police believe all the robberies in which the subjects were involved were drug-related.
