Healthy Indiana Plan accepts wait-listers

More than 50,000 Indiana residents on the Healthy Indiana Plan waitlist were recently asked to re-apply for coverage.

Fewer than 5,000 citizens of the 50,000 reapplied, and about 3,400 met the new eligibility standards and received invitations to enroll in the plan.

FSSA will still have room in the health coverage program for about 17,000 additional Hoosiers whose incomes put them at or below the federal poverty level, according to a
press release Friday.

“We are delighted to be able to offer participation in the consumer-driven Healthy Indiana Plan to what will ultimately be approximately 20,000 more Hoosiers in 2014,” FSSA Secretary Debra Minott said in the release. “Those who have been waiting for coverage and are still eligible will be added first, and then we expect an influx of additional Hoosiers seeking coverage in the new year.”

FSSA anticipates interest in the Healthy Indiana Plan to continue to drive enrollment toward its new estimated capacity of about 45,000 members, according to the release.
