Man strangles girlfriend during fight

FROM IDS REPORTS

A 21-year-old male, Hao Xie, was arrested Sept. 2 after pinning his girlfriend against the wall, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said.

Police responded at the 1100 block of South Clarizz Boulevard around noon to a report of a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, Xie was sitting on the front porch of the apartment.

The victim, a 19-year-old female, said she and Xie were involved in a verbal fight in her bedroom. She said it became physical when he pinned her against the wall with his forearm.

Officers said the victim had trouble breathing and had red marks on her neck.

When Xie was interviewed, he said he was upset with the victim because she wanted to go out with her friends and he didn’t want her to.

He admitted to using his hands to push her against the wall.

Xie said he was slapped on the arm, but the victim said she did it in self defense when Xie pinned her against the wall.

Xie claimed he was battered first, but was arrested.
