Thomas Battle, an adjunct professor in finance at the Kelley School of Business, died suddenly Monday morning after collapsing during his 8 a.m. class.
He was taken from Kelley to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where he passed away. The school was notified of this at around 11 a.m.
At this time the cause of death is not known.
Battle has been teaching as an adjunct professor at IU since 1983.
“Our school was notified quickly because our assistant dean was in the room and another faculty member was in the room,” Idalene Kesner, interim dean of Kelley, said.
Professor Dough McCoy will take over Battle’s "Introduction to Financial Management" class, and Kesner said Counseling and Psychological Services counselors will be available to students during their class time Wednesday morning. The department chair will be there to speak as well. The class will meet in a different location.
