Individuals fall in porch collapse

Emergency personnel helped recover about five individuals who became trapped in the area between a front porch and an apartment building after the porch gave out and separated from the building.

Bloomington police, medical responders and firefighters responded at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday to the 500 block of East 15th Street in response to a report of a porch collapse.

Upon arrival, Sgt. Lucas Tate said, police found about five individuals stuck between the enclosed area beneath the porch and the apartment building.

Tate estimated the individuals had fallen about 8 feet.

One individual was transported to Bloomington Hospital with minor injuries.

No serious injuries were reported, Tate said.
