FROM IDS REPORTS
Indiana’s 15th annual Holocaust Day of Remembrance has been set for April 10, Gov. Mike Pence’s administration announced Wednesday.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council and the Bureau of Jewish Education will hold the day of remembrance at the Indiana Statehouse. The title of the day is “Honoring the Rescuers.”
A student presentation by the Hasten Hebrew Academy of Indianapolis will be included in the program. Speakers will include Pence; President of the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council Todd Maurer; Chairperson of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission Clayton Graham and Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission Jamal Smith.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission was created to commemorate King’s life and work. This includes offering acts of service that meet the community’s needs, which includes Indiana’s Holocaust Day of Remembrance.
This program will take place during the national week of remembrance. The nation will recognize the Holocaust Day of Remembrance on April 8.
