Activity on the IU-Purdue University Indianapolis campus is returning to normal this Tuesday evening, following an earlier sighting of a man with a gun on campus. The police received three different reports of a man with a gun but never found him.
The university's official Twitter account tweeted the "all-clear" message shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
An IUPUI Police Department employee confirmed via phone that police were actively looking for a gunman on campus for much of the afternoon.
IUPUI students were advised to seek shelter after a man was spotted with a gun at Barnhill Drive and Vermont Street on the campus.
The IUPUI Twitter account tweeted at about 1 p.m. that all buildings are on lockdown, but about a half hour later corrected the message, saying the campus is on "full alert."
IU-Notify messages were sent to students.
