Rape reported at Ashton

A woman reported an on-campus rape to the IU Police Department on Saturday, IUPD records reported.

Police officers were in the process of booking the woman for an alcohol-related arrest Saturday when she reported a sexual assault that took place about a week prior, IUPD Chief Keith Cash said. She reported that the rape occurred between 8 p.m. Jan. 11 and 8 a.m. Jan. 12.

The woman told police an acquaintance raped her at Ashton Center, Cash said. He said the woman is unsure if she wants the report pursued and the case is currently under investigation.

According to IUPD logs, the report was made off campus at the Monroe County Justice Building.
