IU communications projects awarded

Various units, including IU Communications, the IU Alumni Association and IU Foundation, received awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District V for communications projects.

Among the accolades, the IU Department of Telecommunications received a gold award for its “MultiVisions Communications Conference,” a one-day conference that took place March 30.

The conference was designed to offer students a preview of career options in the media industry, according to the Department of Telecommunications website.

IU Alumni Association was awarded a gold award in the category of “Best Practices in Alumni Relations” among organizations of its size. IUAA was recognized particularly for its “Programs in a Box,” which gives volunteers tools to assist with programming, according to the press release.

The IU Foundation also won a gold award for its photo essay, “Little Violins, Big Impact,” which details a violin education program for first-graders in a Bloomington elementary school.

According to the press release, the University and the IU Foundation received nine silver and bronze medals as well. 

“These awards speak to the excellence of the communications efforts of Indiana University,” IU Creative Services Director Rebecca Salerno said in a press release. “We are fortunate to have a talented staff, committed partnerships with IU staff and faculty and so many interesting and engaging stories to tell about Indiana University.”
