IU Center seeks students for Model Arab League

The Center for the Study of the Middle East, or CSME, at IU will have a callout meeting Wednesday for those interested in becoming part of the student delegation, which will travel to the Model Arab League in February.

The Model Arab League will take place from February 21-23 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

The League is a simulation in which students represent one of the Arab League’s 22 member states and work to achieve consensus on questions diplomats struggle with daily, according to the website of the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations.

Students will be able to discover the character of the country they will represent at the event and dig deeper into the realities and myths of the region and its relationship with the world, according to the IU Events Calendar.

At the end of the discussion, international relations professionals will announce winners.

The callout meeting will take place 4-5 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room of the CSME building, 1105 E. Atwater Ave.

Funding for the trip is contingent on student interest and may include partial or full travel funding, according to the CSME website.

Interested students are encouraged to attend the meeting or contact csme@indiana.edu.
