The IU Board of Trustees begins its search today for a new student trustee.
Applications will be available on the trustees’ website, indiana.edu/~trustees.
Since 1976, the board has had 19 student trustees.
“The board relies on the student trustee for balanced opinion and reporting of important trends,” William Cast, chair of the board, said in a press release. “The student trustee who can bring a broad knowledge of student life and its associated problems, as well as a background of participation on his or her campus, can play an important role on the board.”
Cora Griffin, who currently serves as the board’s student trustee, will end her two-year term June 30, 2013. Griffin is working toward a juris doctor at IU-Purdue University Indianapolis’ Robert H. McKinney School of Law and a master’s degree in nonprofit management.
“Serving as an IU trustee has given me the opportunity to learn about Indiana University, meet incredible students and IU supporters and gain management perspectives that will be used in my career,” Griffin said in a press release.
The student trustee has the same rights and responsibilities awarded to the other trustees, according to a press release.
“The student position on the IU Board of Trustees is an opportunity to serve your peers and Indiana University to ensure IU excellence today and in the future,” Griffin said. “I urge students to think about applying for this opportunity.”
