Kay Fleming

Democrat

Fleming

Attorney General Candidate

Fleming is currently the president and partner at Fleming Stage, her own legal firm.
She graduated Cum Laude with a BS from Indiana State University-Evansville. Later, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the IU School of Law in Indianapolis.

Fleming has clerked for various judges before becoming the first chief counsel for the Indiana Gaming Commission in 1993. She worked at the law firm of Ice Miller LLP as Of Counsel. In 2005, she became partner. She's also been a probation officer in Warrick County and served as volunteer on the board of directors of Special Olympics Indiana.

If elected, Fleming wants to find more effective strategies to prevent consumer fraud and to catch perpetrators. She also wants to establish regional offices across the state to increase attorney general awareness of local issues, which can often differ from those in Indianapolis. Fleming would offer legal interpretation and assistance to creating consistent sex offender registry guidelines that carry across county lines. A focus, too, would be utilizing the deputies attorney general instead of outside counsel.
