IU named a top university for aspiring entrepreneurs

Unigo.com named IU number six for the 2013 Top 10 Aspiring Entrepreneurs rankings.

“We’ve received many awards and this is just one of many awards that indicates the strength of our entire program,” said Idalene Kesner, interim dean of the Kelley School of Business.

Donald Kuratko, professor of entrepreneurship at the Kelley School, said the school has some of the best faculty in the world. Other schools use textbooks written by Kelley School faculty.

“Our students get to learn from the actual sources themselves,” he said.

He said entrepreneurship is no longer just about the business. It is also a mindset. It is important for students of all majors to be able to think about their job in an innovative way.

Lee Bradshaw, vice president of digital marketing for Unigo, said the company is the only one to use student votes to determine its rankings.

“We use student votes because students are brutally honest about their college,” he said.

More than 30,000 students voted for the 2013 rankings. He said schools should be proud to rank highly.

“It means the actual students at that school have put forth the effort to go out of their way to tell us how good their school performs,” he said.
